Our team at Patricks with Rooms is the key to our success. There is not one role more important than another; it is the combined team work that ensures that our customer experience “Seriously good food, wine, service and sleep”.
A team of course needs to be managed and that is down to us, the very much hands on owners of Patricks with Rooms.
We are two husband and wife teams: Myself - Catherine, and Patrick Walsh who first set up the business in October 1993 and my sister Sally and Dean Fuller who unwittingly got sucked in at a very early stage.
Patrick is half Irish but was born and raised in Middlesbrough. He studied Catering in Newcastle College before moving down to London to work. I was born in Horsham and moved up and down the M4 corridor due to my Fathers career with British Steel. My family finally settled in Swansea which enabled me to do my Catering qualifications at Neath college before moving back to the southern counties to work. Pat and I meet in Henley on Thames where we both worked for the training department of Berni Inns setting up new build restaurants.
It was then that our dream of opening our own restaurant was turned into a reality and in 1993 with the financial backing of my parents we moved to Swansea to buy the lease on a 32 seat restaurant that we renamed Patricks.
Sally my younger sister (believe it or not) and her then partner Dean had their own careers in Beauty Therapy and Retail Management respectively. They worked every spare minute with us to help make Patricks a success, and very shortly after opening they married and joined us as partners in the business.
Really we have a partnership of six, as without the infamous Margaret and Brian Algar, our parents, the business would not have got off the ground. So much more than just the financial support, it is the pure physical and mental support they give us.
Together we make a seriously good team.
